Land Acknowledgment:
This land (that we gather on in circle, and that I sit on as I type these words)
belonged to the Haudenosaunee people, who stewarded and honored this land for many many many generations before it was colonized. Each moon in the year had nicknames, aligning with the time of year the full moon peaked. The moon and women were Earth's original calendars, integral to keeping track of the cycles within each season.
June Moon Nicknames
The June Moon, Strawberry Moon, named for the ripening wild berries that many celebrated as gifts from the Earth; is in Sagittarius and the full moon before the Summer Solstice.
Other nicknames that were known are the Blooming Moon (Anishinaabe) and the Green Corn Moon (Cherokee)
European nicknames include the Honey Moon and the Mead Moon.
This marks the end of Spring and the start of Summer for the northern hemisphere.
Indigenous Nicknames:
Strawberry Moon, Birthing Moon, Green Corn Moon, Blooming Moon
The heart berries arrived and were celebrated, the corn was planted and nurtured, many animals had many babies, and flowers were blooming all around.
European Nicknames:
Honey Moon, Mead Moon, Rose Moon
This time of year the honey was harvested roses were blooming, and mead was fermented often gifted to newlywed couples.
Solstice:
In Pagan traditions, there is the wheel of the year. There are 8 holy transitional days for celebration of the cycles of life, death and rebirth and are a way to honor and connect with Earth's rhythms. Last full moon, was Beltane, a fertility and marriage festival. This full moon surrounds the summer solstice, Litha.
The Wheel of the Year includes the equinox's, solstices, and four cross quarter days which are the midway point between them. The Summer Solstice is across the wheel from the Winter Solstice, the darkest shortest day of the year.
Many cultures celebrated the peak of the light, the Solstice, in different ways with different names. Many work with fire, to represent the Sun and solar dieites. There is an Incan festival in Peru called Inti Raymi, marked with feasts and Ceremonies.
Witches across the world gather their herbs as they believe they are most potent with life force at midsommar. In some parts of Scandinavia they dance around maypoles at Solstice instead of May Day and celebrate fertility. Some traditions say ashes from a Midsommar bonfire can provide protection or fertility, often used to sprinkle in doorways or in the garden.
Around every 20 years or so, the Strawberry Full Moon falls on the Solstice, magnifying the energy of divine union, the dance in polar opposites. This year, the Solstice falls on Friday, June 20th.
The Moon before the Solstice is a powerful portal for transformation, for letting go of the past of the past season and cycles, and a time to give deep thanks for the abundance of earths abundance and gifts.
Spirit of Strawberry:
Associated with love, renewal, heart healing, root stabilization, sweetness of life
Purity, innocence, detoxification, fertility
Many indigenous tribes celebrated the arrival of the red berries, many acknowledging their medicine, nourishment, and heart shape.
The Cherokee people describe strawberries as a woman’s medicine, beneficial to mind body and spirit.
Many tribes, like the Wabanaki, Ojibwe, Oneida, held strawberry ceremonies to celebrate girls first menstruation; a rite of passage, coming of age rituals to honor womanhood. These were deeply sacred traditions passed down over time with very detailed and intentional teachings.
The Seneca and Haudenosaunee people, celebrate the Strawberry Full Moon with ceremonies surrounding gratitude for earths gifts and celebration of life. A time of feasting, dancing, singing, and giving thanks. They offered the first of the spring harvest back to the earth as a sign of respect and love. They made medicine and many foods and drinks with all parts of the strawberries. Strawberry bread, juice, fruit leather, etc.
As the strawberries turn red and ripen in my garden, I feel called to honor the traditions of the land, and give the first and best berries back to the garden to give thanks.
Ways we can celebrate:
Community singing, dancing, feasting, baking with local or home grown foods, creating altars that are adorned with gifts from the Earth, working with the elements of fire and water, praying praying praying.

(While working with strawberry, I felt drawn to connect to rhubarb for the first time. I have much to learn and a little to share. I am so grateful for the many gifts from nature and for the joy of each season.)
Spirit of
Rhubarb:
Known for its ability to thrive in harsh conditions; for its resiliency. Associated with the element of fire, it’s thought to nourish the inner flames enhancing creativity, passion, vitality of life force. Emerging in spring, rhubarb carries a vibration of renewal and beginnings after endings.
Used in ceremonies & rituals for its powers of protection and warding off negativity energy.
In some cultures, rhubarb was worked with in fertility rituals, as well as for prosperity and abundance

Sagittarius Full Moon Astrology 2025
FULL MOON ENERGY:
The Sun is in Gemini, moon in Sagittarius. The fire inside of us demands truth, freedom, and playfulness. The fire that has been passed down to us by our ancestors, where they still gather to warm their hands. The sister signs come together creating a portal for transformation. Embracing sovereignty can bring an increase in personal power. Follow the excitement and joy.
Sagittarius energy can be compared to the excitement we get when learning something new. This sign holds both wisdom and the pursuit of happiness.
Sagittarius is represented by the Temperance tarot card in Tarot; connected to balance, harmony, and wisdom.
Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter, Cosmic Expander.
Interpretation: In order to grow, our roots must be deep and strong. We must know our own needs and be able to meet them. We must speak kindly to ourselves. We must reach for the Sun and know we are worthy of blooming. Listening to the messages from our bodies is important (physical body, emotional body, spiritual body, mental body) Our nervous systems are picking up on millions of things. Getting in tune with our own internal systems and our senses are doorways to connecting to subtle energies.
PLANETS SHIFTING SIGNS: Jupiter has just moved into the sign of Cancer, where it will stay for one year. This can bring an expansion and rewiring to our emotional bodies. Pulling our awareness to the water within, to our own beings. Influencing our ability to nourish ourselves and others, enhancing our motherly instincts. Our intuition will become stronger—messages from the body are divine--- please listen. Sometimes she whispers, sometimes she screams. (My belly growled so loud as I typed this)
(Listen to the Song- Rebirth Whispers by Camila Condor to activate remembrance)
All of the outer planets have been shifting signs, bringing unprecedented change in their own ways. Huge shifts for the collective, for all of humanity. The children being born from this point forward, will have spirits infused with energy that is much different than ours.
GEMINI: The Sun sits in Gemini, ruled by Mercury the Divine Messenger and translator. He is here to help us to translate messages from our own bodies, minds, spirits, nature and other realms.
Deeply weaved into our voice and the power of story telling, as well as our hands, Gemini encourages us to write and speak this Full Moon. Whatever you are doing, know the power of your thoughts, words, and actions. As a co-creator with the all of everything, know that on a quantum level, your imprint matters.
To work with the energy of the Sun, so close to the Solstice, there is a BOOST of energy added, so speak wisely.
Rituals involving the hands and voice such as affirmations, journaling, self massage, singing, story telling, knitting, untangling things, mirror work are incredibly powerful at this time.
